A native of Katy, Texas, Dr. Aertker is a proud graduate of Texas A&M University, where he studied Biomedical Sciences, graduating summa cum laude. At Texas A&M, he received the Thomas Gathright Outstanding Academic Scholar Award. Dr. Aertker then earned his medical degree at the University of Texas at Houston ' McGovern Medical School and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society. After completing his internal medicine residency training at Duke University Hospital in Durham, North Carolina, Dr. Aertker returned to Texas to train at The Texas Heart Institute in general and interventional cardiology. He was elected chief cardiology fellow during his tenure there. In addition to his training in interventional cardiology, Dr. Aertker is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology. His clinical interests include preventative cardiology and percutaneous treatment of coronary, peripheral vascular, and valvular heart disease. He is committed to the practice of evidence-based medical care and emphasizes the importance of patient education.
